The Pro-Tech 8 TITAN glove is specifically designed and constructed for hand protection during structural firefighting activities. The component materials are designed to withstand the effects of flame, heat, vapor, hazardous liquids, sharp objects and other hazards that are encountered during structural firefighting operations.
The glove meets or exceeds the NFPA 1971 Standard – 2007 Edition on Protective Ensemble for Structural Firefighting, as certified by Safety Equipment Institute McLean, Va.
DESIGN AND FEATURES: Advanced Multi-Layered design using technologically superior light weight components which provide repetitive thermal protection and cut resistance. The unique varied layering design and sewing/construction results in an extremely light weight structural firefighting glove with superior dexterity, comfort, fit and grip without sacrificing NFPA-compliant protection and performance.
The back side of the glove features a knuckle guard consisting of 2 layers of waterproof Silicon Carbide fused with 2 layers of 100% Kevlar providing enhanced thermal protection and cut resistance at the traditionally vulnerable knuckle compression point.
Gathered stitching is used around the entire wrist for a secure fit and reduces debris from entering the glove.
The glove inner liner is sewn in at each fingertip for maximum retention and efficient wet don and doff.
A leather hang-up loop is provided on the glove inside for easy drying and storage.
MATERIALS AND LAYERING: The palm-side outermost layer is water-repellent sueded goat skin, tanned and designed to resist cracking, peeling, and stiffening while also providing a sure grip when wet.
The ring and middle finger’s suede are cut and sewn independently for enhanced dexterity.
Underneath the suede is a full layer of blended 64% KEVLAR / 36% NOMEX and a partial layer of 100% NOMEX which runs from the edge of the sueded palm section to the cuff edge. The inner liner on the palm side is another full layer of 100% NOMEX.
The back side of the TITAN outer layer is mainly water repellent goat skin suede which covers the finger tip area, a 1″”suede welt across the entire finger crotch area, and the cuff area from the knuckle guard edge to the cuff edge.
Underneath these suede portions on the glove back side is a full layer of 100% KEVLAR and another full layer of 100% NOMEX.
The inner liner on the back side is another layer of 100% NOMEX.
The finger sidewalls are comprised of an outer layer 64%KEVLAR / 36% NOMEX, and two underneath layers of 100% NOMEX.
The gloves are fully-lined with a double layer breathable polymer moisture barrier completely sealed in the finger and sidewall area to prevent liquid penetration from the NFPA test chemicals, blood borne pathogens and water. No stitching penetrates the membrane and it remains flexible in sub-zero temperatures.
100% KEVLAR high burst thread and 100% KEVLAR edge piping is used throughout the gloves.
