Job title: Sewing Machine Operator

Location: Epsom, NH In Person – 40 hours a week – Full Time

Job Description: The Sewing Machine Operator will be responsible for repairing firefighter gear in accordance with work instructions, ensuring that repairs are made in the order of when the gear was received. The operator will work closely with the assigned inspector for quality checks and follow work instructions for stock gear to meet customer satisfaction. Daily tasks include operating and maintaining the sewing machine, reporting malfunctions to the sewing room manager, and monitoring inventory levels of materials.

Key Responsibilities:

Repair Firefighter Gear:

    • Repair firefighter gear in the order of when it was received.
    • Adhere to work instructions and quality standards for repairs; and in accordance to NFPA 1851 Standards.

Quality Checks:

    • Have all work checked by the assigned inspector for the day.
    • Ensure that repairs meet the specified quality standards.

Work Instructions:

    • Follow work instructions for stock gear.
    • Ensure compliance with guidelines to meet customer expectations.

Machine Operation:

    • Operate sewing machine on a daily basis.
    • Comply with all equipment manufacturer and company safety policies that are put in place.
    • Maintain efficiency and accuracy in sewing tasks.
    • Use machine designed for individual tasks.

Machine Maintenance:

    • Clean the sewing machine daily to ensure proper functioning.
    • Change NDLS once a week minimum.
    • Report any malfunctions or issues to the sewing room manager promptly.

Inventory Management:

    • Monitor and report any low inventory of materials to the sewing room manager.
    • Assist in maintaining an organized and well-stocked work environment.

Customer Assistance:

    • Assist walk-in customers as needed.

Communication:

    • Maintain open communication with the sewing room manager regarding machine status, repairs, inventory, office questions, missing work instructions, and attendance.
